Representing sex for pay on the stage by dancing as a stripper was more of a challenge for me than most girls. I am not a naturally pretty person in the face. I wear glasses, I am cross eyed, and I have small breasts. Just to look at me - you would never guess that I was even a stripper.
Back then was no different. Off the stage, I looked like the plainest "plain-Jane" that ever existed. But on the stage, I would shine. Actually, I looked better without my clothes on than with them on and still do.
The first time I ever worked at the Plaza Burlesk Theater in Washington, D.C., the manager was quizzing me. Of course, he had not seen me on the stage yet or without my clothes on.
Even though I was booked for one week, I could tell he was nervous about my being on his stage because he thought I was ugly. He asked me how long I had been dancing. He talked about such things as how the guys that come in to his theater like big tits. I laughed and just said, "O.K.!" I was so sure of myself back then. I knew no one looked as good as me or did as good a show. I knew he would like me after he saw my show.
After my show, he came back stage and apologized to me for his actions. He said, "I knew you were a "pro" when I saw you "hit the stage!"
