I was sitting in the little restaurant next door at the Burlesk Theater in Detroit, Michigan in between my show when a "guy" came up and sat by me at the counter. He told me how he liked my show. I thought, "Oh! No! Another "jack-off" wanting to take me to bed!"
But his request was not for my body. It was quite different. He asked me if I had some panties on. I told him I did. He said that he would give me $5.00 for them. Well! I thought this was a real deal because they were some raggedy ones I had borrowed from my sister, Brenda, anyway. I agreed to sell them to him for $5.00.
I told him I would go in the bathroom and take them off and bring them to him. I knew by his offer that he was a sniffer and whatever else he could do with them. But I did not care because I could use the $5.00; and it was just an old pair of raggedy pants anyway.
But I could not let it be this easy. Ihad to tease him a little. I said, "I'll go take them off in the bathroom and wash them out for you!" He said, "Oh! No! Don't do that!" Anyway, the transaction was made.
I told the girls on the next show about it. I thought I had don pretty good. All the girls started telling me how stupid I was. They said I could have got, at least, $25.00 out of him. Since this was my first experience with this type of deal, I was still "green" - as I was in a lot of things back then. But since then, I have learned.
I used to think that maybe "ignorance is bliss"; but I am glad for all the mistakes I have made to reach the level where I am now.
Some think it is not necessary to know all the bad things that happen in the world. But some never know good unless they can compare it to bad.
Even though I suffered through many trials and tribulations, I have tried to turn the events around to make something good out of it. I have raised two good people from it. And through it all, I found my spirit. Without the hard times, I do not believe this would ever have happened.
